Howard - First Meeting

Last weekend, Mark, Daphne and I drove to Connecticut to meet Howard, the rescue dog. He's a beautiful red bullmastiff with long legs and a large square head. His past is sad and his body isn't pretty but his heart is wide open and loving. He will joing our family next Saturday and we will become his forever home. We are looking forward to sharing our journey with those who brought us together, Sandy, Mari, ABA Rescue. Enjoy future posts and feel free to comment.

Welcome to the Bullmastiff Rescue "Family". Mari has been updating me on Howard's story. My name is Tim McDonough and I'm a MA Rescue Volunteer and have fostered many bullmastiffs over the past years. I currently own a male and female that were bred by Mari (Bulhaven Bullmastiffs). I currently live in Framingham, MA and I believe you also know Dr. Migday so we both have that in common as well as I have been bringing all my bullmastiffs (rescues included) to Slades over the past 11yrs. If you should ever have any questions about living with a bullmastiff rescue feel free to contact me and I can share what my experiences have been with living with them. Overall I can honestly say that of the 30+ bullmastiffs that I've fostered over the years ALL of them I would have considered adopting and they all had something special about them. I'm sure Howard will add that special touch to your family. And, my condolences on your loss of Harley. I lost my first two bullmastiffs that I ever owned over the past year so I know what you are going through.

Hi Tim. Thank you so much for your message. Mari mentioned you during the process and I was pleased to hear of another bullmastiff, Slade alum. It's great that you live so close to Slade. Although, I'm a bit of a worry wort so it's probably good that we're an hour away! haha!

We very much admire you,and all the ABA volunteers, for the work you do to help these amazing creatures. We considered fostering, but decided that it would likely be too emotional for us as we get attached quickly.

So for now, we are happy to adopt and are grateful that Sandy and Mari matched us with Howard. We feel good about being able to give him a good home.

Also, thank you for offering to be a resource from us. Don't be surprised if I take you up on it! In my mind, the more info the better.

My condolences to you as well. Mari said that you lost them within a month of each other. Our single loss was devastating, I even can't imagine doing it again so soon. I hope that you are finding peace in your memories and the blessed distractions still with you. Thank you again for reaching out.

All the best,
Kim
